Hidden Beauty Story

For the past 22 years I've been a self-employed barber and beauty therapist. After running my barber shop for 8 years I decided to close down the business and start up mobile due to the lock down back in 2020. I designed and customised a regular van in to a mobile barber room and then went on to modify it further into a mobile  treatment room, where I carried out signature massages and facials.

This is where I found my love  for skincare formulating and then later, body and home fragrance products ! My facial packages were created to help young clients that were suffering with teenage skin conditions. As this unfolded I came up against a number of stumbling blocks from side effects caused from shop brought products, mainly because  they were to strong for their fragile skin types. So 2021, I started formulating my own skin products to combat this problem. I intensively studied, researched and completed qualification in organic and holistic skincare formulating. This has given my control over what ingredient are used in my facial treatments and can avoid shop brought spa products that contain extra ingredients not needed in our skincare.

 

These Qualifications have gained me access to UK cosmetic formulating suppliers to be able to purchase skin safe products and ingredient to use within my facials and more importantly  for young children to be able to get involved with pamper days without using highly fragrance and harsh chemicals on the skin and explore the world of beauty without harming there skin in the process.

For the last year and a half I've been running workshops for people who are struggling with the mental health in my local area. Getting the local community together and out their houses doing something positive, teaching them how to formulate and make there own skin and body products that can improve symptoms of anxiety and depression with the use of holistic, organic and herbal ingredients.

 At present i teach students in Independent Schools and referral units hairdressing , barbering and beauty skills. As well as educating them of what ingredients are in there current skincare routine and how there are damaging there delicate skin, creating awareness of the dangers from  following Tik -Toc and social media trends which are not appropriate for this age group.

Teaching and working with adults and students with mental health and behavioural difficulties has been a passion for many years. My teaching abilities came to light back in 2016 when I was studying my accounting qualification to assist in the running  of my barbering business. My tutor had seen these qualities within me and prompted me to take up a tutoring job at Wolverhampton college and Birmingham finance and business school, where i taught disadvantaged adults level 1 and 2 account, and  achieved exceedingly high exam results, with classes reaching over 50 student at each centre per week .

This experience in my life I believe has lend me to the next phase of my career, with the knowledge of my long professions and running 2 successful businesses along side each other. Whilst I've decided to bring my barbering career to an end  I am delighted to have been able to transport my career in this new direction, and so excited to help  many more adults and young people in years to come with my unique  approach to improving mental health and personal well being through powers of  therapeutic  massage therapy and holistic skincare cosmetics . Not forgetting the fun and creative side of  cosmetic making which i now offer to younger adults and through pamper parties where the children and teens can play the role of mini beauticians.
